Central Students Honor Our Soldiers

Central Students Honor Our Soldiers

Students in Mrs. Outley's class at Central Elementary school have been writing to our soldiers over seas and at home. The following story explains how Central students are honoring our soldiers.

"I have a class mate that I went to high school with. His name then was Bernard House. In Dec. of 2011 he was stationed in Iraq to fight in the war. He and I communicated through social media as well as via email. He told me then there were lots of soldiers that did not have any family and were depressed at the holidays. I asked him could my students write them letters.

We mailed letters and candy just in time for the holidays. Now, Bernard is back in the states working under Pres. Obama. He contacted me again this year around Christmas, and this time he asked for letters from my students for the injured soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Again, my students responded!!!!! Bernard is now Lieutenant Colonel House. He called and thanked my class, and he is planning a trip to the school with his family in the spring to meet the faculty and staff of Central."
-- M. Outley
